Why are Names Important ?

I would like to introduce you to Archie.

He is my new companion in the art studio. I traveled to Missoula MT on Sunday to bring Archie to his new home. He is just 8 weeks old and working hard to adjust to his new environment. I am sure he is missing his many siblings all flying around in the cozy aviary. As I drove back to Helena I set my mind to thinking of a good name that he and I could both live with. I was looking for a name that would fit his physical appearance which I see as regal and majestic, as well as a name that will be easy for him to speak. The name Archie is Scottish in origin and means true and bold. I resonated right away with both meanings. I know with experience that cockatiels are true to their nature and they are extremely bold as they explore their daily surroundings while flying, entertaining or talking. It will probably be a few months before Archie gets his vocal capacity but in the meantime I am talking to him constantly and playing You Tube videos of cockatiels singing for him to mimic. Like humans they pick up sounds quickly at an very early age.  I am thrilled to have a cockatiel back in the art studio as I paint. For sure he makes me smile and reminds me to be true and bold each and every day as I pursue the creative process.

His crown feathers are really long and I am sure he has regal cocktail blood in him, lol.

Archie wanted me to make sure I took a photo of his beautiful patterned wings for you to see.

As for paintings this week I have three that are just off my easel. I have them up for auction on Daily Paint Works. If you have questions about them contact me. You can see auction details in the link below each photo. I hope all is well in your neighborhood and life.
