Summer Sun, Garden Iris and Micro Mystery

Does a sunset ever cause you to pause and wonder?

 

 

August is the zenith of summer and summer is in full swing here in Montana. We often get spectacular sunsets due to forest fires. While the sky is beautiful it means hardship for those who’s lives and lively hood are greatly impacted due to fire. Unfortunately a fire started this past weekend near Hamilton Montana which is about 160 miles southwest of Helena. My heart goes out to those who have lost property, loved ones and livestock due to this fire.  These photos capture some of the suns light as she dances among the smoke that is hovering over the Montana skies.

 

 

While the smoke and the wind are moving through the skies I have been working on 2 new paintings.  Below Is, Headwig, a painting commissioned for the students of  the resource room at the  Mustard Seed School in Hoboken NJ and Garden Iris. I was inspired to paint the Iris when I was walking one morning in the garden. I heard the blues and purples of this delicate flower cry out, “Paint Me”, so I gave it a try.
