Being in a group reduces risk. In what groups have you belonged where this saying has held true?My life experience has proven this statement true on so many occasions. I have often approached life thinking I can make life successful by doing things on my own. However I have been proven wrong on so many occasions that I have lost count. I can laugh about it now but for years admitting I needed help from others was often a painful experience.

This new painting is an expression of the need we all have to belong to other human beings. For sure being in a group is a way of life for most bird species. Our feathered friends know first hand the benefits from gathering together for survival and for mutual companionship. My list of groups that have enriched my life are many from family, church, teaching colleagues, and fellow artists, and the list could go on and on. I wonder what groups you have belonged to that have been integral to your life.
