Faith Ringgold was born in 1930 in Harlem NY. She is one of America’s most outstanding African American artists.
She is an artist, author and educator. She uses her art to tell stories of her family and her many experiences as an African American woman.
I admire Faith for her never ending pursuit to get her work shown and her ability to use a variety of art media to express all that life brought her way.

The quilt above is called Tar Beach because the scene in the quilt takes place on a NY rooftop during the Great Depression.
