received The nations Highest medal of honor for a civilian

The micro view below shows a cow’s skull with a blue background. The artist most likely painted this at her New Mexico ranch. She is known to have painted many cow skulls through out her career.  She received The Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Gerald Ford, the highest honor that can be given to an American citizen.

Thanks to all those who participated in this weeks Micro Mystery. Nancy Beckman, Michelle Behl and Emily Systma

Georgia lived in New York City in her early years but eventually move to New Mexico to live at her beloved Ghost Ranch. I have always been drawn to her work because of the subject matter. Georgia always painted scenes or objects of her environment. She is known as one of America’s greatest modern artist’s. Below is a 3 and a half min video with many of her paintings as well as a brief history. I especially enjoyed the photo and the quote at the end of the video. I think I would really enjoy Georgia as a friend.
