How do we find inspiration?
2019 has been marching on at a steady pace. Already we are well into the 3rd month of this new year and so much has taken place. My days have been filled with art making, spending time with dear friends and family, snow to play in, and hours learning about artists and their art.
One of my favorite artists is Henri Matisse. His work is such an inspiration with its bright colors, striking compositions, and unique views of everyday life. He was able to see the simple but glorious beauty of a person or thing and transform it using color, line and shape. He loved life, light, creation and the process of art making. Below is one of his few stained glass windows called, The Tree of Life in the Chapel of the Rosary at Vence, France.

“Don’t wait for inspiration. It comes while one is working.”

Henri has been an inspiration to my own work and I believe he is right when he says inspiration comes in the middle of work. It is in working that most of my own inspiration comes. I’m wondering what inspires you? I would love to here from you. Who knows you may inspire me or others who read this blog. Feel free to leave a comment in the comment box below.
Here are some photos of works that I have created these past few weeks. I hope their bright colors and dramatic forms bring you a smile.

I started painting my annual Easter eggs for 2019. There are 8 new designs and I added 25 more to my inventory making a total of 125 eggs. Last year I quickly sold out so I hope this year everyone will have a chance to select the eggs they want. They will be listed for sale on my website on Monday March 18.
I find inspiration comes in many ways; working in my studio is certainly the primary way. Sometimes working out a method or considering what I think of as limitations in the medium (watercolor) are easily resolved if I don’t rush the process. Take a break, put it aside for tomorrow or sleep on it. Art enhances the way we see our world; this applies to artists and those who appreciate and enjoy all kinds of art.
Glen I so agree with you especially the comment about rushing. Art is so important for how we see the world. Thank you for your heart felt response. You made my day. All the best in your creating.
