Frida Kahlo was a prolific Mexican painter who lived from 1907 -1945. She is one of the most famous painters of the 20th century. Frida married Diego Rivera another famous painter from Mexico. Their marriage was filled with love and conflict. Frida suffered much pain in her life both emotionally and physically. Frida was injured in a wreck while riding a bus. Her life was never the same and many of her paintings reflect the pain she experienced as a result of the accident.
If you have not seen the movie, Frida staring Salma Hayek as Frida and Alfred Molina as her husband Diego Rivera I highly recommend it. It was up for 7 academy awards. A beautiful story of a very unusual woman.
