Urban Pastures first color ad in the Montana Catholic Newspaper.

How many hats does an artist wear as a self employed artist?

Not only do I create art but I work at least 6 other jobs here at Urban Pastures to support my art business and they take almost as much of my time as making art. One of these jobs is being head of marketing for Urban Pastures. I have to confess marketing is tough and requires a lot of creative thinking and implementation. This month I have taken on two big marketing projects that I am excited to share with you.

The first is my new color ad I bought in the Montana Catholic Newspaper which serves the Diocese of Helena Mt and comes out 12 times a year. The ad will be in this months Easter addition which comes out today. I am grateful for the help I had in learning how to do this from Renee St. Martin who is the the editor and Advertising Manager of the newspaper. This was a good learning experience for me and one I hope I can repeat many times.

The other marketing experience was the wonderful opportunity I was given this week to present my art locally to the real estate agents at Big Sky Brokershere in Helena Montana. Susan Hughes and Maureen Olekers invited me to share my art at the beginning of their weekly meeting. I presented them with some of my architectural cutouts of homes and public spaces here in Helena along with my embossed metal trees. I was convinced once again that the best way to share your art is in person. People love seeing and touching art first hand as well as getting to know the artist. The agents were the most encouraging and out going group of art enthusiasts I have ever met. They are also passionate about selling houses and the owners and buyers they work to serve.Marketing takes time, interaction, risk and determination as well as being rewarding. Just like art work it is demanding and yet worthwhile and like a good piece of art in can enrich our lives. All in all I would say it was a good month for the Marketing Agent here at Urban Pastures Art.

If you have more marketing ideas I might consider please share them in the comment box below. Thanks for your on going support and interest in Urban Pastures Art.
