The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee
By
Rembrandt van Rijn
If you look closely you will see a figure of a man in a red hat and a greenish blue shirt holding a rope, this is Rembrandt. Jesus is across from him in the boat a sleep. Rembrandt was no stranger to the storms of life. He suffered the death of 4 of his children and then his wife followed by bankruptcy. No wonder he has himself holding on tight to the rope in the boat. This is the only seascape Rembrandt painted. I hope it is soon found and returned to the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston so once again this powerful painting can be viewed by the public and be a source of hope to those who travel the rough seas of life.
This week I have been working on my paper clay humming birds. Some of them are going to Birds and Beasley’s Art and Gift Store here in Helena. I am also putting a few of them for purchase at Urban Pastures Art under, Available Works/ Birds.
