Fideller White, my handsome great grandfather, is the subject of my new abstract painting. My nephew Patrick commissioned me to create this painting housing an old photograph of Fideller. Patrick finds this unique Montana settler an inspiration to his writing. Fideller is known in our family for several unusual feats. He fought for both the Union and the Confederate armies during the Civil War. He came to the Montana territory during the 1880’s by wagon with my grandfather and grandmother. He was a mountain man of sorts who loved fishing and the wilderness experience. I have a letter he wrote and his penmanship was perfectly formed. He obviously was a well educated man for his time making a life and a living in a very rough climate and environment. It is good to know ones family history and the struggles and joys of those who have gone before us.

If you have an old photo that you would like placed into an abstract paiting. Just contact me and I would be happy to create a unique piece for you or a family member.
