Do You See A New Landscape On The Horizon?
acrylic on wooden panel 12 x 12 inches
I have been musing on the many types of landscapes that surround us in our daily lives. If we are observant of Mother Nature she is constantly showing us that nothing in her world ever stays the same. She reveals to us how earth, sky, water and all living creatures are constantly changing. This was demonstrated to me first hand this past weekend when we had 70 mile an hour winds which helped to fuel a forest fire and downed many of Helena’s trees. The wind carried smoke for miles and filled the Helena Valley with thick smoke which filled both homes and lungs. It was a clear example of how natures landscapes are constantly evolving.
Then my reflections led me to ponder how our cultural and civil landscapes are currently moaning and groaning for hope and fresh opportunities as a nation. Mother Nature is a good teacher by her constant evolution of shedding old growth and sprouting new growth. I must admit I never find changes comfortable when they are taking place but as situations evolve hope never fails. I find it amazing how we are never left in a baron place where there are no choices. I have learned through my daily artwork that when I hope and strive to grow as an artist I always end up in a better place than from whence I came.
The painting above is my latest abstract that I created before the storms. Upon completion I new right away what the title should be. Funny how art can speak to us and lead us to ponder the many layers of our lives.
