How do you spend time playing and making new discoveries?
One of the joys of childhood is to play and to create new worlds and possibilities through the avenues of story telling, imagination, artistic media and found objects. I have fond memories of making wooden forts, mud pies, costumes, paintings, go carts, carnivals and a delicious brew of root beer during my childhood years. The vibrant sense of wonder and joy that comes from creating something new is a treasured gift. The students I worked with for 25 years taught me that even the teacher can make her work a play time, even the teacher can create something new. I cherish that lesson and now as a daily painter I embrace the possibilities of a making new creations. The original abstract painting above, “New Creation”, is an expression of that playfulness I seek in my daily painting.
