I have been cloistered in my art studio due to the freezing January temperatures along with 12 to 15 inches of snow. I am not complaining as it is a normal January in Montana. I actually love this time of year as the cold days force me inside where I can clean, organize and work on commissions. One of my first commissions of the New Year was this small Victorian house in one of Helena’s oldest neighborhoods. The owner is about 90 years old and recently moved to an assisted living apartment . This house was her home all of her married life a good 50 years plus. Her move needless to say was an emotional one. The realtor from Big Sky Brokers who sold her house commissioned me to make a painting of the house. She wanted to give it to the woman as a thank you and a remembrance of her home of so many years. She will be able to hang it in her new apartment and hopefully cherish the many days she lived in such a beautiful space. I was thrilled to make it for her. It is commissions like these that bring me a great deal of satisfaction and joy as an artist. Below are some photos of the Fresh January snow outside my art studio and the painting of the house which has been cutout of wood and measures 10″h x 15″w
