Is there a Saint you can claim as a hero?
St Francis of Assisi is one of the greatest saints that has ever lived. He has always captured my artistic heart and mind. His greatness sprang from his deep joy and love of God that enabled him to humbly serve the poor. I have read that Francis was a playful person who was filled with a child like sense of wonder and delight for God’s beautiful creation. Legends have said that he talked with the birds and the animals and he even tamed the wild wolf of Gubbio. Francis was truly a man of peace both within himself and with all of God’s creation.
The icon that I created above is a multi layered painting incorporating three pieces of wood, embellished with embossed aluminum and paint. Francis is standing hold a dove, the symbol of peace with the wolf of Gubbio by his side. This piece has been SOLD, Thank You.
