Can art bring us peace?
In recent months and in the last several days there have been life threatening events that have caused people around the world both concern and grief, from Tuscon, to New York, to Cairo. Many of our neighbors, friends and family suffer daily from acts of violence. I have come to realize that turmoil or agitation begins in the heart. To seek peace and to be at peace is a daily challenge and discipline for each one of us. For sure it is a noble endeavor to work for peace. As an artist I feel called to work for and to be at peace especially when I create my art. I believe art can be a powerful tool for peace. One that can tame the human heart and bring new hope and vision . My new peace dove is a visual reminder to me to work and to pray for peace in our world. I have a dove hanging in my studio by my painting table. I have made several thinking perhaps some of you may like one as well.
