The Ironwood Tree stands tall and proud as she offers a home to two small California swallows. This unique painting was created on a wooden box frame. Both the tree and the swallows are delicately cut out of half inch birch plywood which have been painted and then attached to the painted wooden surface of the box frame. The piece measures 12” H x 18” H

This painting was commissioned by my good friend and former art student, Emily Litman. She is now a full time elementary classroom teacher who has a heart and a discerning eye for both beauty and art. Emily, a native born Californian, is particularly found of both Ironwood trees and swallows as they are such a part of the California landscape. This magnificent tree can grow and live up to 1500 years and it is known for its twisted and gnarly trunk, the hardest of earth’s woods.
I appreciate Emily’s vision and request to make this unique painting come alive and become a reality. Enjoy and Thank You Emily!

If your like Emily and looking for that unique one of a kind gift for someone special please feel free to contact me. I’m always happy to create a hand made piece of art for that particular occasion and beloved person.
