Do you have a favorite building where you live? Your house, your apartment, your business, your church, your favorite restaurant? What is that structure that catches your eye and speaks both beauty and charm? We all have our favorite places some are ornate and some are simple and lean. Some are entertaining and some provide comfort and repose.
Here is one a recent patron had me create of the Colwell building here in Helena. I have to admit that this unique building captivated my attention right away with its multiple windows and stimulating repeating patterns. Not to mention the size and shape of the structure. They sure new how to build buildings with character back in the late 1800’s.
I cut this painting out of an old Douglas Fir shelving board. It measures 9″ x 11″ and is painted in acrylics. I have included some photos of the actual building with photos of my painting.
