For sure Spring has arrived. The flowering trees and the garden beds are full of color, mostly shades of blue and purple. My landlady does all the gardening while I do all the watering. A team effort for sure. The Lilac bushes are more beautiful than I can remember in years past due to our very mild winter.
Not only has bright new color arrived in the garden but I have been creating some new art for some very special people. I enjoy doing commissioned art especially if it is a gift for a child, or if the subject matter is a beloved pet. Well actually I just love making art for others So anything is possible and the process is always enjoyable.
Marcus is a handsome African American child and this cross was commissioned for him by Karen Kalteissen and Christina Meinhardtas of Ringos N. J. In the center is the Biblical figure Joseph wearing his coat of many colors while he was in Egypt administering Pharoh’s land. I hope Marcus will enjoy his cross for years to come.
Orlando the sleepy-eyed cat was also a commissioned piece by Karen Kalteissen and Christina Meinhardt. The dark brown of the background in the photograph is a board I used in order to take the photo. The figure of Orlando sleeping on the pillow was drawn on 1/4 inch birch plywood, painted in acrylics and then the figure of the cat was cutout using a scroll saw. Orlando is the last of the 7 pets that Karen and Christina have commissioned. Some of their animals have passed on but for sure their pet gallery is now complete.
I am always happy to make art for you or as a gift for someone special in your life who may need just a little extra TLC.
Just email me and I will be happy to work with you on details to make that special piece of art.
As always thanks for your support and I wish you a bright and glorious spring.
