The Helena sky has been a constant source of inspiration for my art work this summer. Both the clouds and the birds of the air have found their way into my latest paintings and creations. The billowing clouds that easily form over Helena are very colorful and often majestic as they sail over head. When they gather in mass and form rain clouds I always get excited and wonder what kind of storm is brewing and what colors will be displayed? Most often I see a variety of soft greens, rich purples and dusty blues. These two paintings, Thunder and Lightening, were commissioned by the Mustard Seed School of Hoboken NJ for the two fourth grade classrooms. Children living in Hoboken are very accustomed to seeing both the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty. I had a fun time painting a Montana sky over New York City.
Montana birds continue to grab my attention as they fly high and low over head. My neighborhood crows dominate the sky while the gentle humming birds sip the sweet nectar from the garden flowers. I have been working with paper clay to create my own whimsical birds. Below are photos of my newest creations. They are ready to fly away to new homes.
