Welcome with Fir Trees
I have made a brand new batch of the small embossed copper paintings available for purchase. These unique pieces of art are made of copper and wood. The image was drawn into the
copper surfce on the back side allowing the front surface of the copper to be raised. Whenever I write words into the image it means I have to write the letters backwards which is both fun and challenging. The copper was then placed in a patina bath for 3 days and then
burnished with steel wool and sealed with a matte varnish. The copper plates are then mounted onto a 5 x 9 inch
piece of wood painted in bright acrylic paints. Each piece comes ready to hang. They are great gifts for the home. apartment. office or dorm room.
Be sure to see my other small copper pieces at my website here under Available Works / embossed metal. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope that 2013 is a prosperous and healthy year for all of you.I know I have been looking forward to this new year as I plan how to make more of my hopes and dreams become a reality. My list is growing and my enthusiasm is high. However I know that I need to now trim my list and keep only those goals that are most attainable and are most relevant to my needs. Goal setting is something I have always enjoyed and I have learned that if I keep my list to a minimum of 5 then by years end if I have accomplished three of the 5 goals then I can say, “It has been a good year”.One goal I have is to increase my presence on the Internet through this blog, my Face Book Page, Urban Pastures Art , Pinterest and my website, UrbanPasturesArt.com. You can follow me in all of these arenas to view my current art work and escapades. If you haven’t signed up for my monthly newsletter yet and would like to, just fill out the form in the sidebar to the right. The second goal I have is to post more photos and videos of my work for you to view online.
Below is my first art piece of 2013. This is a three dimensional wood cut relief. The tree and the birds have been coutout and mounted on a 8″ x 12″ wood box panel. This painting is available for purchase at my website, Urban Pastures Art, under the tab Available Works, Wood Cut Relief

With each new season comes new opportunities and new experiences.
Since August 23 I have been spending two days a week as a part time employee at Frayed Sew, a unique Boutique, here in Helena. The owner, Becky Schreiner, has been a friend of mine since I moved to Helena in 2008. She has been one of Urban Pastures biggest fans and supporters.
Frayed Sew is now in it’s fourth year as a retail store bringing a variety of hand made items to Helena residents. Becky carries everything from her handmade purses to pottery, paintings, recycled art, jewelry, cards, t-shirts women’s skirts and infant apparel.
Frayed Sew is a petite boutique located on the walking mall of downtown Helena, Montana. Established in 2009, Frayed Sew was conceived out of the desire to bring high quality unique handmade items to the Helena community and beyond. The work of both local and national artists are found in the store.
I have enjoyed my time at the store, meeting new people and helping folks select a purchase. The store is so full of eclectic art that stimulates my own creativity and outlook on life. I am happy for this new season and experience in life. If your in the Helena area please stop in and say hello. I aam here every Saturday and Monday.
A bountiful fall to all my blog fans!

Have you ever had an unexpected visitor?
Meet Ms. Robbie
I am often amazed at my own blindness. Two days after moving into my new apartment I was gazing out the kitchen window and saw a mother robin sitting in her nest. She was hidden from me for several days and I am sure she saw me the first time I stood in front of that window. I am delighted by this unexpected visitor, who I now call Ms. Robbie and I can’t wait for her chicks to hatch which may be any day now. In honor of Ms. Robbie and her chicks the July giveaway is one of my original wood cutout Robins hand painted in acrylics. There are several ways to join this give away, just share this post on Face Book, Like Urban Pastures Art on Face Book, sign up for my newsletter at my web site blog and as always you can leave a comment. 4 easy ways to enter and enter often! If you share a link on FB it helps to tell me as sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the shares.
The drawing will be Thursday July 12….. Good Luck Everyone and thanks for all your support !

How can new transitions in life bring new promise and hope?

On June 30 I moved my home and art studio to a new location here in Helena MT. I am so excited at all the new possibilities for my own personal life as well as for my art. Surroundings for an artist are very important to the process of making art. I am hoping my new home will bring many surprises to my creative process. One of the elements to my new apartment is the outdoor garden. Every window I look out of has bright flowers and green follage following a quaint garden path of beautiful rock. There is also an abundance of light especially in the new art studio which has windows on two of the four walls.
Bleecker, my pet cockatiel, is in seventh heaven as he takes his morning sunbath in a room filled with light all day long.
The photos below are just a glimpse of my new diggs with boxes everywhere still to unpack. For sure this is an exciting time in my life as I settle into a new home and am hopeful that Urban Pastures Art continues to grow and thrive in it’s new garden setting.
